Mandalorian Season 3: Will Gina Carano be Returning
Season 3 of The Mandalorian does not yet have a release date, but filming is currently ongoing. The program was put on hold for an extended period while Lucasfilm focused on the Obi-Wan Kenobi serial, Andor, and The Book of Boba Fett. According to actor Carl Weathers, the follow-up season of Disney Plus’s original is now in production and will premiere in late 2021.
In the section below, we’ll go through everything we have known about the show’s comeback, including prospective cast members and where we anticipate the plot will go next. Will there be a third season? Yes. The Mandalorian’s future was announced by creator Jon Favreau in December 2020, even though the show was renewed before season 2 was released.
According to speculations, The Mandalorian Season 3 will air in 2022. Officially, it was planned to begin production ‘soon after’ The Book of Boba Fett – but that looks to have altered. Carl Weathers (Greef Karga) indicated in August 2021 that filming would begin in September and begin filming in October 2021. This means that the program will most likely return in late 2022.
Pascal will return as the main Mandalorian, Din Dujardin; however, the rest of the cast has yet to be revealed. Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon may return in the future, but Gina Carano will not repeat her role as Cara Dune.
Season 3 of The Mandalorian is planned to revisit narrative lines such as the fate of the Darksaber weapon and whether Grogu would return to Din after being schooled by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). The Mandalorian Season 3 has yet to be officially announced, although late 2022 looks to be a reasonable bet at this point. The project was mentioned as part of Lucasfilm’s pipeline for next year in a September 2021 THR report. Because Andor & Obi-Wan Kenobi has already been shot, we may anticipate the show to emerge once they are available on Disney Plus.
Grogu fans were concerned that when The Book of Boba Fett has revealed at the end of The Mandalorian season 2 finale, it might take the place of a third season of The Mandalorian. However, Favreau has confirmed that Din Djarin’s story will be continued in The Mandalorian Season 3. Given the typical timescales for large-scale projects like The Mandalorian, both of these remarks indicate a Sabacc release date in late 2022.
The Mandalorian Season 3 may be delayed due to Pedro Pascal’s commitment to HBO’s live-action series based on Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed videogame The Last of Us, in which he plays Joel Miller. Pascal’s deal with HBO began in early July, as did production on the new program. While no official supporting cast for Season 3 has been announced, Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin, dubbed The Mandalorian, will return (at least in part).
Other actors returning for the upcoming season are unknown – reasonable considering Lucasfilm’s habit for keeping guest stars concealed until new episodes appear on Disney Plus – but the production now has a vast roster to choose from.
We’re anticipating Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze to return – perhaps season 3 will focus more on her desire to rebuild Mandalore – as well as Carl Weathers (Greef Karga). Gina Carano, meanwhile, will not reprise her character as former Rebel Shock Trooper Cara Dune. Giancarlo Esposito appears to be assured that he will reprise his role as rogue Imperial Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian Season 3.
There have also been rumors that the Wookiees will make an appearance. According to the Bespin Bulletin podcast, sources close to season 3’s production have indicated that a Wookiee will appear in the show. We have no means of knowing whether or not this is authentic, so we’ll stay skeptical for the time being.
