When We Were Young Festival 2022 – Las Vegas After Party Guide

When We Were Young Festival 2022 – Las Vegas After Party Guide (1)

This weekend will mark the opening of the inaugural When We Were Young festival, which will have a post-punk/emo fever dream lineup that includes My Chemical Romance, Avril Lavigne, Paramore, Taking Back Sunday, Jimmy Eat World, The Used, and many more. Many festival goers will be seeking to keep the party going after the final headliner, which is set to end at 12am, as Sin City gets ready for the invasion of Hot Topic nostalgia. Fortunately, locations like Resorts World Casino, the Palms, and the Brooklyn Bowl will serve as havens for the throngs of partygoers sporting tight band t-shirts, black eyeliner, and Vans or Chucks who want to continue the screams of early ’80s youthful angst late into the night.

Over the course of the weekend, Resorts World casino will stage a “Emo Nite” residency with a series of unexpected special guest appearances, most likely from festival performers or other well-known performers passing through the area. Fans donning those side-swept bangs can certainly anticipate the same kind of high-energy singing, dancing, and cry-along tracks that have made this international music series so popular because this event will be the only official Emo Nite party taking place in Vegas this weekend.

For those who aren’t familiar with the Emo Nite LA events, co-founders Morgan Freed and TJ Petracca have dedicated the last eight years to laying the foundation for what has revived the emo/post-punk scene through a series of events that blend Emo style DJ sets with live musical performances, occasionally featuring special onstage appearances from artists like Sum41, Travis Barker, Post Malone, Dashboard Confessional, nothing, nowhere., Blackbear, and Bring In addition to the show’s nostalgic appeal, their activities have aided in the development of a new generation of young people, whose numbers are expanding quickly. This has ultimately helped the popularity of the niche genre soar higher than before. Avril Lavigne made her victorious return to pop punk with a performance at Emo Nite, while Machine Gun Kelly made his pop-punk persona debut there. They also gave Yungblud one of his first US gigs.

A Day To Remember, who will perform at the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas with support from The Used, Movements, and Magnolia Park, is one of the acts that festival-goers with only one-day tickets will be able to catch elsewhere because When We Were Young is technically two single-day events.

Throughout the weekend, the Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas venue will also host a number of performances by artists like Story Of The Year, Sleeping With Sirens, and The Summer Set.

To quench those halfpipe thirsts this weekend, PBR will serve as an official festival sponsor and will even host an on-site gallery at their lounge throughout the festival in collaboration with veteran photographer Justin Borucki (press shot), a legendary photographer in the music space since 1994, whose work has appeared on dozens of albums for bands in the post-hardcore, metal, punk rock, screamo, alternative rock scene, and more. Starting in downtown Las Vegas, will present an unauthorised after-hours event in collaboration with Pure Noise Records and Eyeball Records.
