PICARD SEASON 3 TEASER REUNITES THE NEXT GENERATION CAST

It was announced in April of last year that some of Patrick Stewart’s co-stars from Star Trek: The Next Generation will appear alongside him in Star Trek: Picard season 3. It is still unknown how precisely their characters will wind up working together again; however, a video teaser that was only just published for the third and final season of the programme hints that the previous crew of the USS Enterprise may join again for a rescue operation at some point.

Trailer for Star Trek: Picard’s third season

The official trailer for Picard season 3 has not been made available by Paramount+ as of yet; nevertheless, the streamer provided viewers with their first look at the show’s last season during the Star Trek Day livestream event that took place on September 8th.

The sneak glimpse starts off with what appears to be a starship from the Federation being approached by an approaching space craft. After that, there is a cut to Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) using a rifle to defend herself against some unknown assailants. Almost immediately after this, a scene occurs in which Jean-Luc Picard (Stewart) is shown receiving a request for assistance from Crusher. This transmission is intended for the attention of Admiral Jean-Luc Picard. Crusher states in the message that they require assistance from the reader.

Following a brief scene depicting the destruction of a Federation structure, the sneak peek then focuses on Picard having a conversation about his strategy with William T. Riker (Jonathan Frakes).

Picard says to Riker, “I need to find the ship,” and it is clear that he is talking to the vessel that was holding Crusher.

When asked, Frakes responds, “We need to find the ship.”

A man’s voice can be heard stating, “Jean Luc, wherever you go, we go,” in response to Picard’s statement that he cannot afford to put anybody in risk at this time.

The teaser then shows a montage of additional returning characters from The Next Generation, including as Geordi La Forge (played by LeVar Burton), Worf (played by Michael Dorn), and Marina Sirtis (played by Deanna Troi), in addition to the returning Raffi Musiker figure who played Picard (Michelle Hurd). After that, we see Picard and Riker boarding the USS Titan, where Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) is waiting to greet them with open arms as captain of the spaceship.

Brent Spiner, who was one of the cast members revealed for Picard season 3 in April, does not appear in the teaser, which is a notable omission. It is not apparent why he is not shown in the teaser; however, the fact that he is not present in the clip implies that he may just play a supporting part in season 3 or that the programme is simply keeping the identity of his ostensibly brand-new character a secret.

Spiner’s portrayal of Data in The Next Generation was one of the roles he later performed in the first season of Picard. Not only did Spiner reprise his role as Data in Picard, but he also played Dr. Altan Inigo Soong and Adam Soong in the first two seasons of the programme. Therefore, it wouldn’t be strange if the actor ended up portraying a whole new character in the third season of the show.

Terry Matalas drops hints about the upcoming third season of Star Trek: Picard.

Showrunner Terry Matalas has already dropped hints that the final season of the programme would contain an event that will alter the universe. Before the beginning of Picard’s second season, Matalas disclosed in an article that would be featured on the cover of SFX magazine that the Star Trek world will never be the same again after the third season of the programme. Matalas had stated at the time that there will be “some game-changing Star Trek universe ideas” in the upcoming season 3 of the show.

In addition, he stated that some elements from Star Trek: The Original Series and the films starring the original series cast would be utilised in Picard season 3 in order to “tie some Star Trek together.” These elements would include the Spacedock and boatswain’s whistle from those films, in addition to other references to their “more nautical, cat and mouse submarine-movie” ideas.

Release date for the third season of Star Trek: Picard

The third season of Picard will begin airing on Paramount+ on February 16 and will continue for a total of ten episodes until April 20.
