Prince Harry and Meghan Markle used their platform to express their support for the people of Ukraine when accepting an award over the weekend.
The former royals skipped the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People) Image Awards red carpet, raising fears that the couple would not attend the event.
Later in the programme, they walked on stage to accept the President’s Award for their work with a Texas women’s shelter.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry spent their time in the country advocating for vaccine fairness and setting up community aid centers.
Previous honorees include Muhammad Ali, Rihanna, LeBron James, Bill Clinton, and Venus and Serena Williams.
The couple chose to focus their attention on a more vital subject as they took their position on stage to claim their reward. Harry wanted to discuss the unrest in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s invasion this week.
‘As a global community, we would like to acknowledge the people of Ukraine, who urgently deserve our continued assistance,’ Harry remarked.
