The creators and filmmakers of Netflix’s Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers, have made a significant statement concerning the future of sci-fi drama. According to the showrunners and the streaming provider, Stranger Things season 4 has a release date and will be released in two parts. There will be two parts: the first will be released on May 27 and the second on July 1.
Their announcement, however, was overshadowed by the news that the program would stop after season 5. Millie Bobbi Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin became household names because of Stranger Things.
“Stranger Things’ whole plot arc was prepared seven years ago. We estimated that the tale would endure between four and five seasons when we first saw it. Open message to the series’ long-suffering fans: “It proved too enormous to tell in four, but — as you’ll see for yourselves — we are now rushing into our denouement.”
With nine screenplays, over 800 pages, more than two decades of production, tens of thousands of visual effects shots, as well as a runtime nearly double that of any prior season, Stranger Things season 4 was the most complex and gratifying ever.
“Due to unprecedented length,” the much-anticipated Stranger Things season 4 will be issued in two parts,” they wrote in an open letter. May’s first installment will be available on Netflix in late May, while its second installment will be available five weeks later.
Season 4 is both “the beginning of the end” and “larger than ever” for the show’s creators. Additionally, the letter suggested different tales inside the Stranger Things universe, such as mysteries, new experiences, and new “unknown” characters.
“It’s been six months that since Battle of Starcourt, that brought fear and destruction to Hawkins,” reads the season four description. Our circle of pals is now split for the first time, and high school’s complications have made things much more difficult. A new and terrifying supernatural menace emerges at this most vulnerable moment, posing a horrific puzzle that, if answered, may put an end to the Upside Down’s atrocities.”
To their knowledge, no work has started yet on the show’s last installment, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Duffer brothers have been open that Stranger Things won’t have a long run like many other series, so it’s no surprise that the show is ending after only five seasons. The fourth season of the program is also the most costly and budget-busting yet.
Despite the several delays in its release dates, Netflix’s Stranger Things is one of its most popular franchises. The show has received 31 Emmy nominations (winning six of them) and has spawned comic books & mobile apps.
