The 2022 Live Performances of American Idol are quickly approaching, and this week, the Top 24 are competing for a position in the Top 20, with hopes of making it to the Top 14 and the live shows. Some great figures in the music business, such as Jimmie Allen and Bebe Rexha, are assisting the judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan with their judgments.
After participant Mike Parker played his popular song “Best Shot” and explained that Allen motivated him to pursue country music as a Black artist on a Sunday, April 10 program, Jimmie Allen was moved to tears.
Allen is no stranger to American Idol, having previously auditioned for the program and gone on to become a country music sensation.
Allen came to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in music after being born in Milton, Sussex County, Delaware.
He struggled to establish himself in the music industry at first and fell on hard times, living out of his vehicle at one point.
Before landing on American Idol, he auditioned for America’s Got Talent.
Allen auditioned for Season 10 of American Idol in 2011, singing “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5.
