The Chicago Police Department is approaching a significant turning point. Few television programmes are able to last for 10 years, but PD will return in September for its tenth season. The future is uncertain, but it’s an exciting moment to be a fan of Voight (Jason Beghe) and the crew.
There is considerable trepidation about whether the programme will continue to run or terminate after this next season since its current renewal arrangement with NBC is about to expire.

Chicago PD: Has it been cancelled?’
First off, the show is at a fantastic spot. Since it originally broadcast, it has consistently ranked second behind Chicago Fire (the most significant title in the series) in the ratings during the course of its existence. According to Deadline, the season 9 finale attracted a sizable 5.8 million viewers, making it one of NBC’s most consistent performers.
In 2020, the network renewed PD for several seasons together with Fire and Chicago Med, which only happens when a network has entire faith in a series. Beyond the existing fan base for the One Chicago brand, there is a perception that any programme with the Wolf Productions mark will be successful in the long run.

Given that Law and Order and Law and Order: SVU have both been on the air for more than two decades, a programme that is set to celebrate ten years on the air is a tribute to what producer Dick Wolf has accomplished.
Given how much effort the network has put into the various parts of the One Chicago universe (Chicago Justice being the one odd failure), we can be sure that a renewal will come through soon and that Chicago PD will return for a number of additional seasons.
